- What Matters: Focus on important health and lifestyle choices, including a healthy food cooking demonstration and resources for remaining in the home, presented by Marissa Henderson from the Area Agency on Aging.
- Mentation: Alzheimer's Project presentation on mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and maintaining brain health.

About the Center
The Nancy Van Vessem, M.D., Center for Healthy Aging is committed to providing age-friendly care and specialized support for older adults. Named in honor of Dr. Nancy Van Vessem, our center is recognized as a Million Hearts® Hypertension Control Champion for its holistic approach to healthy aging.
Dr. Nancy Van Vessem's Story
Dr. Nancy Van Vessem was a dedicated and compassionate physician who made a significant impact on the healthcare community in Tallahassee. As the Chief Medical Officer of Capital Health Plan, she was known for her unwavering commitment to improving healthcare quality and accessibility for all. Tragically, Dr. Van Vessem lost her life in a yoga studio shooting in Tallahassee in 2018. Despite this heartbreaking event, her legacy continues to inspire and guide us. Dr. Van Vessem's vision and leadership were instrumental in shaping the Nancy Van Vessem, M.D., Center for Healthy Aging, which continues to carry forward her legacy of excellence in care and innovation in health services. Her work has left an enduring mark on our community, and we are proud to honor her memory through the center that bears her name.
